Getting Hands on with Web Components for Education

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Remember the <video> tag? That took five years to agree upon! To avoid this nightmare just to get one tag, the W3C decided to make a way to define custom HTML elements called Webcomponents! This was proposed in 2013 and is reaching maturity now! They work CROSS PLATFORM and can drastically improve accessibility and user experience at PSU. Come influence the future of student experience online by helping us envision <LRN> tags that express teaching and learning!

  • Understand what Webcomponents are and get a sense of how to create them by playing with them
  • Better understand designed course content online and how it could benefit from LRN
  • Learn enough about a new technology to request it be used to produce future projects at the university to improve resource sharing and student experiences across LMS and CMS platforms
